Stylish Entryway

Does your house say to you 'welcome home'? Have you ever walked into your home, stood there a minute and felt something was missing in your entryway? Well, that is if you walk in the house using the front door, but there are so many of us who don't use the front door. We enter through the garage door instead and never really see our front entrance foyer, much less think of what a welcoming entryway could look like.

Also, if your entryway is a small space that a foyer is almost non-existent (like in my case), then perhaps you don't even bother to entertain the idea of what you can do to make this small area look better, more beautiful, cozy, inviting, welcoming. Welcoming YOU home. Maybe, after all, you will want to start using it. Imagine, upon unlocking that door you can take a deep breath, feel as the day's stress falls off your shoulders, you soak it all in as your eyes run through the entry decor, you smile and go ahhh ... home sweet home!

So I, yesterday morning, did the same thing. Grabbed a short shelf that I had bought some months ago yet never found a home for it at home (ha!) and I installed it right there in our entryway. Tiny entryway. It can absolutely serve a functional purpose - hold my keys, phone or a travel mug while I'm putting on my shoes to head out. Or somebody-I-know's loose change. But no, that won't be happening! The intention here is to keep it clean. Absolutely positively no clutter on the shelf! This isn't a catch-all y'all. Only for the eyes to feast on.

So turn a small entryway into a cozy welcome area with a shelf and an accessory! Suitable decor items are: a pretty candle, a framed photo, a beautiful bowl or a vase, an abstract figurine, etc. It doesn't have to be a lot, but it should be styled well. I usually have the 'less is more' approach and I'm happy with that. It should make you feel happy and speak to you every time you walk in that door - hello, come on in, welcome. Welcome home!

Yes, when there's no one else at home to help you hold the shelf in place so you could put the 4 anchors and screws in the holes, I almost said, screw it, I'm screwed! But then found a few good "assistants" to level it in place. Took longer than expected, but done.

Details matter. At least, I think so.

Fondly,

Renata
